Originally, the Passion line of waders was an affordable version of the Alpine Diver model. In its latest version, however, the PASSION V2 has been thoroughly reworked and developed into a first-class wader in its own right. With its clever functions and superior technical features, it certainly does not need to shy away from comparison with the waders of renowned brands.

Due to the deliberately simple design, the PASSION V2 remains surprisingly light, which significantly increases wearing comfort, especially on long fishing days. This minimalism also contributes to the fact that this model is more affordable than the Alpine Diver V3. However, the quality of the workmanship and the materials used are of the same first-class standard in all Hotfly Superb waders.

The following size chart will help you find the right size of waders based on your body measurements. By maximum circumference we mean the largest body circumference (which can be around the chest, waist or hips, depending on your stature). The measurements given in the table refer to the body measurements and NOT to those of the waders.

This chart is primarily a guide to help you find the right size. The fit of fishing clothing depends not only on your body measurements, but also on your preferences. Some people prefer to wear their clothes close-fitting, while others prefer a looser fit.

WATERPROOFNESS AND BREATHABILITY

Staying dry is the most important criterion for fly fishing waders and the PASSION V2 has excellent properties in this respect.

To stay dry while fishing, it is not enough for the waders to be waterproof, they must also be breathable. The moisture generated by the body must be able to escape from the waders before condensation forms inside them. Excessive condensation can make it feel just as if the waders are leaking. That's why the PASSION V2 waders use a Japanese-made 4-layer fabric with absolute waterproofness and superior breathability. In addition, the special, very dense weaving process creates a material with outstanding properties in terms of abrasion and tear resistance, which forms the basis for these hard-wearing and durable waders.

The technical properties and values of the fabric used in detail:

• Waterproofness > 30,000 mm water column
• Breathability > 4,500 g/m²/24 hours
• Weight of the fabric: approx. 220 g/m².
• High abrasion and tear resistance

In this way, the PASSION V2 waders are guaranteed to keep the water out and to wick away the body's own moisture very quickly and reliably over a wide temperature range.

WELDED FABRIC, GOODBYE TO CLASSIC SEAMS!

The biggest weakness of all waders on the market are the classic seams. In the vast majority of cases, the seams of waders leak first. This is not surprising, because the fabric is pierced thousands of times with needle and thread at the seams, and as soon as the seams burst open, water inevitably penetrates.

Hotfly has eliminated this problem in all its wader models by joining the different fabric cuts of a wader using a patented process of pressure and heat that creates an extremely durable bond without perforation by needle and thread. In addition, the cut of the waders has been designed to place the joints in areas where they will not be overly stressed or worn.

By revising the cut, the wearing comfort has also been improved. Especially in the pelvic and hip area, the PASSION V2 waders now have an even more comfortable fit and are therefore even more pleasant to wear. The sizes have also been slightly revised, although the PASSION V2 is still based on European sizes. In addition to the standard sizes, further size combinations have been introduced so that there is now a suitable wader for almost every body size.

TWO WADERS IN ONE

An important innovation of the PASSION V2 compared to its predecessor is the ingenious harness system, which has been taken over from the Alpine Diver V3 and makes it possible to convert the chest waders into waist waders in one easy step. The PASSION V2 can not only be worn as chest-high or waist-high waders. Rather, you can decide for yourself at what height you want to wear the waders. The waders can be securely locked at any height and remain reliably in this position.

Especially in summer, when it is very hot or when you don't have to wade very deep, it is extremely pleasant to be able to convert the chest waders into waist waders in a matter of seconds.

The braces themselves are of course adjustable in length and have a new closure that can be easily operated with one hand by pushing the two parts against each other. The closure locks very securely and does not open unintentionally. Compared to classic click closures, these Magic Slider closures are much less bulky and therefore more comfortable to wear.

On the back of the braces there is an adjustment item that allows you to optimally adjust the distance between the two braces to your shoulder width and prevent them from constantly rubbing against your neck while fishing.

FIT AND ADJUSTMENTS

An elasticated waistband at the top hem with adjustments on both sides allows you to tailor the top of the waders to your individual needs, whether you wear them as chest waders or waist waders. A sturdy elastic belt with a wide, solid click closure keeps the waders in place.

Both the elastic band and the wader belt not only increase comfort, but also significantly reduce water penetration in the event of an accidental fall, contributing to safer fishing and wading.

NEOPRENE SOCKS AND GRAVEL GUARDS

Although it may not be immediately obvious, a number of details on the neoprene socks and gravel guards have been optimised to significantly improve both comfort and durability.

The socks are made of 4 mm thick neoprene, which has been given a more robust and abrasion-resistant coating that protects the neoprene even better. In addition, the sole has been given a honeycomb rubber coating that further strengthens this particularly stressed area. At the same time, this reduces slipping and rubbing of the neoprene socks in the wading boots and thus prevents wear and tear. The cut of the neoprene socks has been made more ergonomic. By optimising the cut of the individual neoprene parts, it is also possible to reduce the number and length of the bonds and to guide them so that they are not located in areas subject to heavy wear. Of course, all bonds of the neoprene socks are protected by abrasion-resistant adhesive tape.

The gravel guards also use neoprene with a robust coating. Compared to the previous model, however, they are now easier to pull on over the wading boots. To further increase the durability of the gravel guards, the lower end has been hemmed with a robust fabric. This prevents the gravel guards from fraying prematurely.

POCKETS AND ACCESSORIES

A total of 3 D-rings have been fitted to the upper section of the PASSION V2 waders, 2 at the front and 1 at the back. The front ones are particularly useful for attaching accessories that you want to keep close at hand while fishing, while the D-ring on the back is for attaching your landing net. Even if you only wear your waders waist-high, the D-rings will stay in place and won't slide down with your waders.

On the front, in the chest area, there is a very spacious bellows pocket with a water-repellent YKK zip. Due to the generous dimensions, even large fly boxes can be easily stowed and carried along.

On the inside there is a fold-out pocket specially designed for your smartphone. This pocket is transparent, completely waterproof and can be removed thanks to a Velcro fastener. In addition, the special material of the pocket is touch-compatible, so you can operate your smartphone and make phone calls without having to take it out of the protective pocket.

If you go fishing with limited equipment, the carrying capacity of the PASSION V2 waders should be sufficient, and you can go fishing without a fly-fishing vest.
